How Alderwood Cabinetry Is Made
An overview of the material categories, hardware and finishing approach we typically work with.
Custom-made Through Our Foshan Supply Chain
Alderwood cabinetry is custom-made through our Foshan production supply chain, then measured, delivered and installed locally by our Malaysia-based team.
We work with two material families: stainless steel and aluminium alloy, used mainly for wet-kitchen and dry-kitchen island cabinetry and doors, and wood-based boards for wardrobes and most other cabinetry. For most completed projects, cabinet carcasses are built from multi-layer board and cabinet doors from OSB (oriented strand board), which Alderwood has told us is chosen for its stability and resistance to warping.
Door and surface finishes, countertop materials and hardware brands vary by project and are confirmed with you during design — see our FAQ below.
Boards We Work With
Selected by space and project needs — see below for how carcasses and doors are commonly built.
Stainless Steel
Used for cabinet carcasses and doors mainly in wet-kitchen and dry-kitchen island units, areas with higher moisture exposure.
Aluminium Alloy
A lighter-weight metal option for the same wet-kitchen and island applications as stainless steel.
Natural Solid Wood
Solid timber, offered as a material option for select cabinetry.
Veneered Multi-layer Board
Multi-layer board finished with a real wood veneer face.
Multi-layer Board
Thin wood veneers cross-laminated under heat and pressure. This is the material Alderwood most commonly uses for cabinet carcasses.
OSB (Oriented Strand Board)
Wood strands bonded in cross-oriented layers. This is the material Alderwood most commonly uses for cabinet doors, chosen for its stability and resistance to warping.
